Congratulations to our 2023 award and scholarship winners who were recognized at the MONL Gala!
DAISY MONL Nurse Leader of the Year Award - Sydney Clement, BSN, RN (MedStar St. Mary's Hospital)
Sydney Clement, BSN, RN, Assistant Director of Nursing, Intensive Care Center (ICC), MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital (MSMH) exemplifies servant leadership. She is persistent in her focus on the ICC nursing teams’ professional growth and wellbeing, in turn shaping the exceptional quality outcomes of the patients we care for. Sydney nurtures talent, exercises emotional intelligence, and applies critical thinking to create a clinical environment that is focused on the safety of patients and staff alike, while improving efficiency, and providing unwavering support to the entire team. Sydney is beyond deserving of recognition for her dedication to patient safety, commitment to nursing excellence and service to the entire MSMH nursing team with the highest respect and conviction.
MONL Exemplary Nurse Leader Award - Nancy Richardson, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM (UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center)
Nancy Richardson joined the BWMC family in 2020 and has demonstrated phenomenal leadership since her arrival. In the last year Nancy has continued great leadership in her department, in the organization, and across the UMMS system. In the department, she genuinely connects and builds relationships with her team offering compassion in times of distress, confidence in times of growth, and guidance in the midst of calamity. As a leader, she has emphasized professional growth and development. She has encouraged and supported over 25 RNs to successfully obtain their certifications in fetal monitoring or inpatient OB and two nurses advance on the PAM. Her leadership goes beyond the walls of BWMC. Across the system, she has represented the organization’s nurse managers in the ACE /P3 programs. She fosters an environment for new grads and student nurses not just in OB but ensures the opportunity exists across other units.
